If you’re looking to streamline your marketing and build an effective sales funnel, Systeme.io is a fantastic, all-in-one platform that combines essential tools like email marketing, sales funnels, automation, and more. In this guide, we’ll walk through the steps to set up a list and sales funnel on Systeme.io, helping you attract leads and nurture them effectively.

Step 1: Set Up Your Account and Dashboard

First, sign up for a Systeme.io account if you haven’t already. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a dashboard with various options like Funnels, Contacts, Emails, and Automation—each integral to building and managing a sales funnel.

Step 2: Create Your First Email List

  1. You can follow this article of ours on how to do that: click here to access the article.

Having a well-organized list helps you target your subscribers with relevant content and offers, enhancing engagement.

Step 3: Design Your First Sales Funnel

  1. Go to the « Websites » tab on the dashboard and click on « Sales funnels »
  2. Click the « Create + » blue button in the top-right corner of your screen and select a funnel type:
    • Build an audience (for lead generation);
    • Sell (for sales);
    • Custom (for flexible goals);
    • Run an evergreen webinar (for online content accessible at any time by your customers).
  3. Name your funnel and choose your currency if you’re planning to sell products (you will be able to change the « Name » and the « Currency » settings afterwards by clicking the « Funnel settings » button after having clicked on your Funnel’s link).

Step 4: Set Up Your Landing Page & Opt-in Page

  1. Click on the funnel you’ve just created.
  2. Choose a template (note that you won’t be able to access the tabs called: « Step configuration », « Automation Rules », « A/B test », etc. You will be able to access it after you have chosen your landing page template). To preview a template, just hover your mouse over one of the thumbnails and click on « Preview Template« .
  3. Once you have selected the template that seems to suit you best, you can give it a name and give that page’s URL Path. In this case, if you have named your page « Product A », you would use: « product-A » as a URL path.
  4. Then, you will need to click the « Edit page » button on the right to be able to edit that landing page of yours and make it contain all the data you need so that it can sell your product or service (don’t forget to save before you quit the page).
  5. Customize the landing page by adding:
    • A compelling headline to capture attention,
    • A clear offer that adds value (e.g., free ebook, discount),
    • An email opt-in form linked to the list you created in Step 2.
  6. Now, choose a template for your « Opt-in/Thank you Page » that will match the style of the landing one.
  7. As in step 3, once the template has been selected, you will also need to give that page a name and a URL’s path.
  8. Click « Edit page » to edit the « Opt-in » page to your liking (don’t forget to save before you quit the page).
  9. Once you’ve finished to edit your « Opt-in » page, you can quit and click the « Inactive Page » and edit that page so that it looks like the two previous ones (don’t forget to save before you quit the page).

Tip: Make sure your call-to-action (CTA) is prominent and that your landing page is easy to navigate.

Step 5: Create an Email Sequence for Follow-Up

Once someone joins your list, you want to engage them through an automated email sequence.

  1. Navigate to “Emails” > Campaigns and click Create.
  2. Name your campaign, then select the sender’s e-mail address (also called the « From » e-mail address). Note that you haven’t verified your domain, you will need to do that first; here’s how you can authenticate your sending e-mail address domain: How to Authenticate my Domain in Systeme.io? and how you can verify your sender’s e-mail address: How to Verify my Sender’s Email Address in Systeme.io?.
  3. Once you have completed step 2, you can add a description of what this campaign is supposed to do (even though you may think that’s irrelevant, I would highly recommend you set up one so that if you were to hire a freelance to help you in the future, they can understand what was the whole point of this campaign 😊👍).
  4. Then you can go ahead and design your campaign. Wondering how you can design a campaign that sells? I would highly recommend checking this other article of ours: How to Design a Campaign that Sells?
  5. Each email should serve a purpose, from a welcome email to introducing key offers or educational content.
  6. Schedule these emails with intervals (e.g., one email per week) to keep leads engaged without overwhelming them.

Step 6: Add Upsells and Downsells (Optional)

To maximize revenue, consider adding upsells or downsells to your funnel.

ℹ️ An upsell is an offer that you would introduce to your customer after they have purchased one of your products or services. In that offer, you would present another of your products or services that would be complementary to your customer’s purchase, and on top of which you add an extra discount that will expire as soon as they leave the upsell page. Example: « Thanks to your purchase, here’s a 50% discount on service B« .

ℹ️ A downsell is an counter-offer that you would introduce to your customer in the case they declined the upsell and that would add an extra discount or help them purchase. Example: « On top of your 50%, you can pay in 3 instalments free of charge« .

Now, to add these types of pages in your sales funnel in Systeme.io, here’s how you’ll have to do:

  1. Click on « Websites » in the top of your screen and then on « Sales funnels« .
  2. Click on the funnel you’ve created in the previous steps.
  3. Click on « + Add Step » in the bottom-left corner of your screen and after you have given that step a name, choose a « Sales Page » , an « Upsell Page » or a « Downsell Page » under: « Sales« .
  4. Select the page’s template that you prefer and edit it so that it looks the way you’d like. If you’re wondering how you can design a « Sales Page » , an « Upsell Page » or a « Downsell Page » you can go read these other articles we’ve written for you: How to Design a Sales Page that Actually Sells?, How to Design an Upsell Page that Actually Sells?, How to Design a Downsell Page that Actually Sells?
  5. Use these pages to promote complementary products or special offers. They appear immediately after the main product checkout, increasing the chance of additional sales.

Step 7: Test and Launch Your Funnel

Before going live, preview each step to ensure it looks and functions correctly.

  1. Test your landing page opt-in to see if leads are added to the correct list.
  2. Test your email sequence to confirm delivery and readability.
  3. If everything looks good, Publish your funnel.

Step 8: Track and Optimize

After launch, monitor your funnel’s performance with Systeme.io’s built-in analytics. Track metrics like Opt-ins conversion rates, Sales and Earnings/Pageviews to understand where improvements are needed. Regular optimization based on data will keep your funnel effective. You will be able to find that piece of information by getting to your one of your specific Sales Funnel’s settings page and clicking on « Stats » to the right (figure below).

Building a list and sales funnel in Systeme.io is a straightforward process, even for beginners. With a bit of setup, you can start capturing leads and nurturing them into loyal customers. By following these steps and regularly optimizing your funnel, you’re set to achieve meaningful results.
